Mr. Scott Kukshtel -
Position: Robot Design, Programming, Controls, and Electrical Design
Joined the Team 2006/2007
Years with FIRST: 8 total; 4 FRC & 4 FLL
Occupation: Software Systems Engineer, Broadcom Corporation
Experience and Background:
Although my current occupation is in programming, I earned a Master’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, so I have been designing and building “real” things my whole life. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge, teaching others new skills, and watching as those skills enable the student to go forward and become productive on their own. FIRST Robotics and FIRST Lego League have allowed me to once again get out from behind a desk and put into practice all of my engineering skills in an incredibly fun, complete, and start-to-finish manner.
Additional Information:
FIRST Robotics is the ultimate educational engineering experience I never had when I was young. However, here are some things that I did enjoy as a kid, and I believe the experiences of playing with these things have continued to shape me to this day:
* Massive amounts of LEGO (of course!)
* Multiple Erector sets
* Kenner Hydrodynamic Building Set (I still own this!)
* Multiple Chemistry Sets
* Estes Model Rockets
* The Edmund Scientific Catalog (especially the electronic project kits!)
* Fleets of Matchbox and Hot Wheels Cars (along with mazes of track
* A complete 4’ x 8’ model train layout, complete with sculpted mountains,
   constructed buildings, lighting and landscaping.
* Numerous Go-karts that my brothers and I built (but our Dad would never let us
   motorize, so they just became coasters!)
* And last but not least, the novels of Jules Verne!
